From a family of traditional bookbinders, Duffy Bookbinders was established in 1970. Now in their fourth generation of binders, Duffy’s have earned a reputation for quality workmanship that is respected throughout the industry. The business was originally set up by Tommy and Kathleen Duffy. Tommy was a former president of the Irish Bookbinders and Allied Trade unions in the 1960’s. His father Paddy was the bindery overseer in the old Alex Thom’s, Botanic Avenue in the 1940’s and 1950’s. Paddy’s apprenticeship with Dollards was interrupted by his participation in the 1916 rising with James Connolly’s Irish Citzen Army, which he later completed on his return from Frongach. Brothers Tom and Pat, sons of Tommy and Kathleen, are the current proprietors of the business, with Tom’s son Tommy making up the 4th generation bookbinder. This vast experience in the binding trade has led to requests to bind presentation books for Popes and Heads of State throughout the world. Opening Hours : Directions See Map here |
